Method Homes recently sent out an email announcement officially launching Method into the hearts and minds of all of you. Thank you for your kind responses and interest. If you're reading this blog, then you have seen our website. Thank you for visiting. Out of the hundred things Brian and I did today, probably one of the most exciting was receiving our first delivery of product, going into the first Method Cabin. Warmboard! Warmboard is a structural sub floor panel doubling as the outlet for hydronic radiant heating application. You can check them out at warmboard.com to get a better idea if you are interested. It was very exciting to receive this today in anticipation of our start date of 3-31-08. The rest of the lumber arrives a week from today. Can't wait.

After all of this time and hard work I received a call from the Factory Assembled Structures division of Washington Labor and Industries that we will be receiving our building permits next week for the Method Cabin prototype.I think we started working on the concept in May of 2007 and would like to thank Tom Lenchek and Scott Labenz of Balance Associates, Mark Spiedel of IL Gross Structural Engineers,  Goren of CeGG engineering, Bryan and Jon of BrN Engineering, Metajive, Jennifer Eliuk, our friends and families for their support and help. Our team has been instrumental in getting us to this point and on to building we go.We've already ordered windows and warmboard radiant subfloor and will be ordering our lumber package and roof next week. We will begin construction on March 24 and will be posting daily photos and updates.

Greetings and welcome to the new Method Homes website and blog. Here we will be blogging about products we will be using on our modular homes, the process of getting LEED for Homes 2.0 Gold accreditation, documenting the production of our Method Cabin prototype in our factory and the life or lack of sleep of a startup. After countless hours of work we are ready to begin building and document our process.I will start with a bit of background on Method Homes. Mark Rylant, who will be posting as well, and I started Method Homes about a year ago with the intent of creating a line of prefab houses that are factory built and architect deigned while still being somewhat organic and down to earth. We were fortunate enough to team up with Prentiss + Balance + Wickline Architects who then began working on our first model, The Method Cabin. Our goal was to create an adaptable prefab home that could be configured multiple ways and would work well as a vacation home.Fast forward many months and we have gone through design, structural, electrical and mechanical engineering(whew), website design, site feasibility, financing, specifications, building costs, real estate searches and are now in for permits and preparing to open our production facility. The prototype is going to be located in the community of Glacier Springs in Glacier Wa near Mount Baker and will function as a vacation rental, model home and ski cabin for us (whohoo).
