Method Homes builds distinctive architect designed homes through advanced off-site construction methodologies

Since 2007, we have successfully completed over 400 projects in the Western US and Canada. Our strength lies in our integrated process with architects, engineers, craftspeople, and local contractors all working together with a rigorous dedication to sustainability and quality. Whether you bring your architect to Method or work with Method’s in-house architect team, we have a robust collaborative approach to both the design and fabrication of your new home.

At Method, we believe everyone deserves to live, work, and learn in healthy, quality buildings

For almost two decades, we’ve been committed to building homes and commercial structures with the highest-quality local materials to ensure every project is efficient, comfortable, and resilient. Our designs are guided by leading environmental certification standards—including LEED, Energy Star, the Living Building Challenge, and Passive House. In addition, our nearly net-zero, state-of-the-art off-site construction facility protects materials from the elements and theft while significantly reducing waste and minimizing damage.

Our Process & Services
Feasibility

Harmonizing your design vision with the site requirements to ensure your project’s success

Defining Project Goals: We will use a detailed questionnaire and varied architectural visuals to explore your story, understand your aesthetics, and begin to know your lifestyle to set the direction for the design of your home.
Conducting a Site Review: We’ll assess the feasibility of accessing the site and perform any necessary tests for Mechanical, Engineering, and Plumbing (MEP).
Complying with Local Zoning: We will conduct a broad review of local zoning code to confirm setbacks, height limitations, easements, shoreline regulations, and any environmental considerations for the site plan and design.

Design and Permitting

Bringing your vision to life, creating an immersive model of your new home and developing a detailed estimate.

Design Inspiration: We’ll review various design images together, guiding us through the design process responding to both your vision and the specific topography, climate, and natural site conditions.
Schematic Design: We will go through multiple iterations of designs, from initial floorplans, to 3D models and photorealistic renderings, to Virtual Reality models to transform your ideas into tangible plans.
Design Development: We will refine the design of your home with the structural engineer and prepare and submit plans for permitting.
Construction Documentation: Working closely with the interior design and specifications team, we will finalize interior selections. Throughout this process, we will develop line-by-line estimates to prepare for your fixed contract build.

Superior Quality

Our homes are crafted by skilled artisans in our state-of-the-art factory, empowering our team to consistently deliver the craftsmanship and detail on which we’ve built our reputation. The controlled factory environment allows us to build with greater precision and less damage to materials. We also tailor each project to the specific climate of your location, ensuring that your home will endure the changing seasons for decades to come.

Efficiency + Predictability

Method can build a custom home 60 percent faster than the traditional site-built construction cycle, which means you get a new home on a fixed budget within a predictable timeline. Since we construct the  modules at our facilities concurrently with local site work, we are able to shorten the project duration by an average of six months and provide less disruption to your neighbors. Our construction process also minimizes waste, recycles materials locally, and significantly reduces damage to materials compared to traditional stick-build homes.

Customization

The Method process supports full architectural customization, allowing us to unite our high level of craftsmanship with your personalized finishes, details, and specifications. A custom designed home from Method is tailored to your land, the topography, local weather patterns, and most importantly, you. The design process is a dynamic collaboration between the land, your vision, and the architecture team.

Hear from our clients and partners:

"For many years, we talked about what kind of structure we might want to create for ourselves.  Above all, we knew that we wanted something that was built in a responsible manner. From our first meeting with Method, we had complete confidence in their ability not only to help us realize our vision, but also to enhance it with their knowledge of green building. Throughout the process, we were so impressed with their responsiveness and guidance in reaching a finished product. The result of our collaboration, the first M2, is a peaceful weekend retreat for family and friends."

- Orcas Island, WA - Method Homeowner

“We are very pleased with Method. Each and every visitor to our new home is amazed at how spacious and beautiful the interior is — no one believes it’s modular until we show them pictures of the installation. The home is well-built and insulated, with walls of windows to take in our mountain views. We had a long cold snowy winter outside, and the radiant floor heating system was up to the task, keeping us toasty inside. Method provided excellent, post purchase support whenever we have questions and their employees are a pleasure to work with.”

- Jackson, WY - Method Homeowner

“There are many reasons that prefab will begin to grow in the United States. Skilled construction labor is in increasingly short supply, fewer students are learning building trades, and those who do, prefer to work in more comfortable conditions, such as a factory. Time and cost savings are other significant advantages to prefab construction. Prefab houses can be built much faster and to a higher quality standard… such as this modular house in California built by Method.”
